Online periodic 'Performa' of Károly Eszterházy University, 2017

This site was built for the 'Performa' online periodic of the University Károly Eszterházy. The 'Performativity ' research group publish philosophy studies in it.

The greatest challenge in the site design was the quality publication of the studies. Philosophy studies are quite complex typography tasks. Even the modern browsers are not apable to display them properly. The other side of the challenge was the editorial part of the CMS. There are many WYSWYG HTML editors, but none of them can handle such a complex task.

I the end I chose a new kind of solution. The articles are published in a Javasrcipt based, open source e-book reader software (ebub.js). I had to modify the reader to handle footnotes and hyphenation. The reader software needs epub format e-books, so the question of the editing is also solved. The real editing is done in InDesign, and exported as an epub file. The site is powered by Exxite CMS, that can handle jpub files.
